Now that my trip to Lyon is just a few weeks ahead, I realized that it is time to speed up and organize two important things: a room to live and the courses to attend.
Generally, there are two possiblities to live: I can either choose a room in the domitory LeGalion close to the university or I can search for a room in an appartment downtown Lyon.
Being a typical woman I have a hard time to decide.
Here are my pros and cons.
The dorm would be the easiest and most convenient alternative to choose. I just need to send out an application form and keep my fingers crossed that there is a room available. Moreover, there will be plenty of other students living in the dorm and I will get to know lots of people. Besides, it is close to university - which is not exactly in Lyon, but in Ecully - and it is fully furnished. Seems like there is nothing to worry about.
BUT, EM Lyon has two dorms, one for the French students and one for the international students. I wonder how I will improve my French language skills if there isnt a single French student living with me. Besides, it is close to university, but it will take about 20-30 minutes to go to Lyon and I am not sure whether it is more important for an Erasmus student to be close to university or to be close to the city.
However, looking for a room in the city is time-consuming, difficult and stressful. Is it worth the effort???
What is your experience? Any suggestions??
